FEDERAL SCRUTINY: On December 22, 2025, the Department of the Interior paused the leases of five offshore wind projects under construction off the East Coast, including Vineyard Wind 1, due to unspecified national security concerns.
NOTE: As of October 10, 2025, Vineyard Wind 1 was operating at 50% capacity and sending power into the New England grid. The project will be recategorized as "Generating" when it is officially commissioned and reaches full capacity. Read more about the project's progress below.
