UPDATE: On June 2, 2026, the New York State Attorney General, along with Attorneys General from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont, sued the Department of the Interior, the Department of Justice, and TotalEnergies in the U.S. District Court for Maine. FEDERAL LEASE BUYOUT UPDATE: On March 23, 2026, leaseholder TotalEnergies signed an agreement with the Department of the Interior to relinquish its previously held lease areas OCS-A 0538, in exchange for a payment of $795 million. As a result, TotalEnergies will no longer develop Attentive Energy One and Two projects in this lease area, and the lease area has been marked "Federal Lease Buyout."
