On June 29, 2026, leaseholder Duke Energy signed an agreement with the Department of the Interior to relinquish their previously held lease area, OCS-A 0546, in exchange for a payment of $129 million. As a result, Duke Energy will no longer develop the Duke Energy offshore wind project, and the project has been marked "Cancelled."
